How to Do Your Makeup Like Katie Homes

Katie Holmes Makeup
When Katie Homes left Dawson's Creek, it was out with the girl next door and in with the uptown wardrobe (think equestrian and menswear influences). With a Maverick on her arm, she instantly became a Hollywood mega star. Here are a few tips for getting Katie Holmes makeup or try it on in our virtual makeup studio.

To create smoky eyes that transition effortlessly from day to evening, use a palette of navy blues and greys. Bulk up sparse lashes with a black pencil eyeliner and wriggle your mascara wand from root to tip for lush lashes like Katie Holmes.

Contour your nose to get a slim, upturned effect like Katie. To shade your schnoz, apply a darker foundation to the sides of your nose and a lighter one down the bridge, blending well. Or, use a bronzing powder to shade both sides of your nose, and run a highlighter down the bridge. Also place a touch of the darker color on the upper part of each nostril. The shading will give the illustion of a smaller, more slender nose.

Tawny pink or red lips cap off this classic Katie Holmes makeup look and they complement the clothing colors she wears the most: navy, white and black.

To look like Katie Holmes, make fashion choices that spotlight beautiful bare shoulders. You can emphasize yours by applying a self-tanning lotion the night before a big event (wear latex gloves to prevent stained orange palms). If you have tan lines, use foundation to fill in the lighter spots and highlight your décolletage (the clavicle or "collar" bones that protrude just under your neck) with a dusting of shimmery gold powder. --Stephanie Simons

Ok awesome, thanks for the tip. This comment has been removed.

Just a small eyeshadow brush should do the trick. Preferably one that is a bit more stiff (so you're not depositing too much pigment and getting streaks) and easy to control. This comment has been removed.

So what type of brush are you supposed to be using to contour the nose? Just a regular eyeshadow brush? Or do I need a specific type of brush for the purpose of contouring the nose?? This comment has been removed.
