Kate Hudson Red Carpet Makeup
Kate Hudson looked gorgeous in an old Hollywood inspired look at a recent red carpet event. Makeup artist Lina Hanson shares her tips to help you create Hudson's sophisticated makeup look.

Start by applying moisturizer to your entire face. Apply eye cream under the eyes to prevent this area from getting dry. Old Hollywood beauties were idolized for their porcelain skin. To achieve this effect, Lina recommends using a stick foundation to achieve an opaque and even canvas. Next, apply a light illuminating concealer under the eyes to "lift" the eye area and make the eyes look awake and fresh.

For your eye makeup, begin by applying a pearly white shadow to the entire eyelid. Blend well and add more product until you have the desired shade. The key for this eye makeup is in the fine eyeliner, which gives glamour to the eyes. Use a liquid liner, starting at the inner corner of the eye, and gently line the upper lash line, creating a subtle "wing" at the end of the lash line. Curl your lashes and sweep black mascara onto your upper and lower lashes.

Apply a soft pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. Be sure not to over apply, you don't want your cheeks competing with your red lips.

Get Hudson's bold lips by applying a red lip color with a lip brush. Using a lip brush will create a precise lip application. If you have a cool complexion, a true red will work best for you. If you have a warm olive complexion, opt for a deep rusty red lip shade to compliment your skin tone. Apply the first layer of lipstick with the lip brush, blot your lips to get rid of any excess lipstick and repeat.

Finish the look by applying translucent powder onto your face with a fluffy powder brush.

Well, if you want a complexion like Kate's, go for foundation w/ yellow undertones. This comment has been removed.

Her skin has such an amazing glow. I have kind of more reddish skin :(...what kind of makeup products can I use to get my skin a similar shade as Kate's??? This comment has been removed.

Definitely go for a foundation with yellow undertones. It'll help cancel out the redness in your skin. And add a gold-based highlighter to the high points (you can opt for a bronzer as well) of your face. Swipe a bit of powder bronzer on the contour areas of the face--the hollows of the cheeks, the temples, along the hairline on the forehead, and underneath the jawline. This comment has been removed.
