Learn How to Do Your Makeup Like Jennifer Lopez

Proving once again that she is a head turner, Jennifer Lopez stepped onto the red carpet at the 2011 Grammys in an ultra-mini Pucci dress. This diva is living proof that being a mother of two, an American Idol judge, and a music icon—all while remaining über chic—is nothing if not easy. Stealing Jennifer’s look is just as easy, with these tips.

Begin the makeup application with a face primer. A silicone-based primer will keep makeup in place all night. Take a liquid foundation and apply it to the face, using a brush to ensure an even application. Blend foundation evenly through the jawline and neck. To create a tan like Jennifer’s, take a bronzer in a medium shade and apply it using a kabuki brush. Next, give definition to the cheeks by taking a peach blush and applying it to the hollows of the cheeks, sweeping it up to the temples. Jennifer is all about contouring, so bring attention to the highest points of the face by applying a highlighter to the bridge of the nose, the highest point of the cheeks, and your cupid’s bow.

For attention-getting eyes like Jennifer’s, prep your lids with an eye primer, to ensure that the eye shadow won’t crease. Next, take a taupe eye shadow and apply it all over the eyelids, and in the inside corners. Apply a plum eye shadow to the crease, sweeping the color upward. Use a black gel or kohl liner and line the top lashes, creating a thicker line toward the outer corner. Take a plum eyeliner pencil and line the lower lash line. Use a white pencil liner to line the water line of the bottom lid, which will make the eyes look bigger. Apply individual lashes to the top lash line, and follow with two coats of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes. To make your eyes pop like J. Lo’s, take a pearl eye shadow and apply it to the brow bone and the inside corners of the eyes.

Complete the makeup look with a soft, apricot lip color and a coat of clear lip gloss.

For a voluminous mane like Jennifer’s, start by misting hair with a heat protectant spray. Blow dry hair with the dryer on medium heat, using a round brush. The key to achieving volume is to roll the brush in your hand, as you move the dryer from the crown of your head to the roots. Once hair is completely dry, use a flatiron to straighten the ends. Be sure to start halfway down your strands, so that you don’t lose volume from the crown. Finish off by applying a shine serum.
