Golden Globes 2012: Hits and Misses
Emma Stone
Sophia Vergara
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Claire Danes
Reese Witherspoon
I feel Hollywood really upped their fashion game this year; didn’t play it too safe and overall created some powerhouse looks. The trends of the evening were blush/nude tones, fishtail gowns and a whole lotta red!

Favorites of the evening for me had to be Emma Stone who dazzles in pretty much everything, but mixed her red hues with the Lanvin gown she wore complete with eagle belt! Sophia Vergara works with the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” fashion attitude and wore Vera Wang with a classic silhouette to highlight her curves, looking amazing. The deep teal/midnight blue shade of her gown paired with her pin straight, glossy hair was perfection.

Some misses had to be Piper Perabo and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who ironically enough, presented together making things worse - double dose of awful styling. Piper followed the nude trend, but with an ill-fitting dress and a color of blandness that underwhelmed. SMG on the other hand tried to incorporate a laid-back vibe into her look, but ended up looking sloppy in a swirly dress and too high ponytail. And, I hate to say it because I think she is fantastic, but Claire Danes should have had her dress tailored! It had an amazing view from the back, but was too loose (and she went bra-less) in the front, not to mention her overdone makeup - so unlike her typical simplistic style.

I’m on the fence with how I feel about Reese Witherspoon and Paula Patton. Both gorgeous ladies and I absolutely adored Reese’s simple beachy tresses, but the dress was a little too simple (such is her style though) and her bodice a wee too tight. Paula Patton brightened up the room with her sunny color dress choice, but too much fabric seemed to overwhelm her frame.

The men overall looked stunning; although, I did not see an appearance from Ryan Gosling! George (Clooney) always manages to shine in a classic tuxedo with just the right arm candy to escort him on the red carpet. And, Elton John really amazed me as well looking awfully dapper. Best smile accessory though had to go to Joseph Gordon-Levitt who the camera panned to all night long. Adorable.

These were just some of my favorite highlights from last night’s awards show. Can’t wait to see Fashion Police tonight on E! to hear what the panel thinks. Who were your favorite hits and misses?

@vamp1967 I agree. And I called it teal/midnight blue because it looked different in photos and on tv. I love the color whatever it is! This comment has been removed.

@Sir_Slicer You thought that too about Jessica Biel? ;) This comment has been removed.

I have to give bonus points to the 'oldies' like Nichole Kidman who can still outshine the younger faces. Nichole looked incredible. Was it Jessica Biel who wore the ugly off-white funeral attire?
What was up with Jessica Lange's hair? It looked like she just finished playing 7-minutes in Heaven with a busboy.
