Much like reality television, evening makeup is all about the drama: you want to play up those gorgeous features of yours so they don't disappear by candlelight (or strobe light, if it so happens that you are headed to a night club). Here are a few sexy evening makeup ideas to light you up after dark or try on sexy evening makeup in our virtual makeup studio.

Skip the lipliner pencil and apply bold lipstick with a precision lip brush or even your finger. Forgoing lip liner will give your lips a more youthful appearance; if you want to enlarge the look of your lips, apply a bit of dewy gloss in the center of your lower lip. Complement intense plum lipstick with pearly gloss. The darker the lipstick, the lighter the gloss should be to achieve the sultry makeup look shown here.

Afraid of dramatic lipstick? Take baby steps toward this look. Apply intense plum lipstick to the back of your hand before applying it to your lips for a softer look.

Set your foundation with a spritz of Evian water then apply translucent powder to your skin with a large, fluffly powder blush brush. Apply translucent powder to your lips before applying another layer of lipstick. This will ensure your plum lipstick has staying power. It will be less likely to wind up on your champagne flute and you'll require fewer trips to the ladies room for a touch up.

As a rule, any occasion that calls for stilettos also calls for false lashes. For a natural look that will fool your friends into thinking you were born with an impressive batting average, opt for individual lashes placed on the outer corners of each eye and held in place with a waterproof eyelash glue. You only need about 3 on each side and you can reuse them if you remember to save them on a piece of plastic and wipe them off with a Q-Tip doused in eye makeup remover.
