Bronze Goddess Makeup LooksHow to look like a bronze goddess
Fair skin is making a comeback, but tan women will always captivate. Blame it on the French: Porcelain skinned maiden Coco Chanel came back from vacation kissed by the sun one summer and we've been clamoring for color ever since. Deeply bronzed skin may not be healthy, but it most certainly looks like it is (conversely, pale skin is often unfairly associated with being weak or ill). Luckily, anyone can achieve a bronzed makeup look without sunbathing on a nobleman's yacht, although the thought sounds might tempting. Try on bronze makeup in our virtual makeup studio. To achieve a look that's tan, never muddy, select a bronzer that's right for your skin tone. Medium skinned women look fetching in golden bronzers, and fair-skinned women are better off with a hue that has pinkish-undertones (a tawny chestnut blush can double as a bronzing powder in a pinch if you're pale). Luminizing liquid bronzer often yields a softer, more dewy finish, though it can look streaky if you're not careful. Apply bronzing color to the outer portion of your face. Start at either side of your forehead and, using a big fluffy bronzing brush, sweep the powder downward in a number three motion, hitting the temples, the cheekbone and a speck of chin until you create the desired effect. You needn't add color to dark skin. Instead, get a gorgeous golden glow with a liquid highlighter such as Benefit Cosmetics' Moon Beam. Apply a touch above the eye brows, above the cheekbones, along the bridge of the nose and in the crease that runs from your nose to your lips. On eyes, select shadows that cast a warm and sunny glow: bronze, shimmery caramel, and spun gold will lend your look total goddess appeal. So will lipsticks of the same shade. --Stephanie Simons |
