What concealer under $10 is best for covering up dark skin discoloration above the lip?

asked
I have a dark spot that is above the right side of my lip, under my nose. When it gets itchy then the darkness becomes more apparent. It seems like there is half of a mustache growing. I've tried to cover up with 3 different concealers (E.L.F., Covergirl & another brand) all together and separately, but it still doesn't quite cover up the spot completely. If you can inform me as to what is the best concealer (preferably $10 or under) that I can use, I would highly appreciate it. But if you recommend something that is higher in price then I am open it it. Thank you.

OK clogurl, the best thing for that upper lip problem is to go to a higher end department store cosmetic counter, like Macy's, and have them match up your skin tone with dermablend. It's a bit more than what you want to pay but it's well worth the money. It does the job completely all the time. If the spot is dark to black, get an inexpensive orange lipstick and dab some of that right on the spot and spread it out, then apply the dermablend then your regular foundation or even loose powder with your puki brush. You will be amazed at the results and EXTREMELY happy with them as well. I also have a similar problem and that's why I use what I do.

Normally I would say that too, but the fact is that foundation is much more translucent and actually in my experience has a tendency to rub away the concealer depending on your application method. I would DAB the concealer lightly so that it adheres to the skin and foundation...the opacity of the concealer will not allow the darkness to come through, and then set it with the powder. Worth a try, don't you think "beauty therapist"???

Most concealers look ashy or gray on darker complexions- Go for a cover-up with golden or orange undertones to balance out your tone. Try Hideaway Corrective Concealer either Sandy or Dawn (depending on your complexion) from Devezin Cosmetics.com It's $10. Pat on with your fingers, and top with sheer powder.

It's not so much about what you use, it's more about how you appy it. Apply your foundation, and then take a concealer stick, DAB it over the area, and then dust with loose powder so that it sets and stays put.

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist! I had melasma on my upper lip, that always looked like a mustache - drove me crazy. It has now lightened to where I can just *barely* see it. However, the spot becoming itchy? That doesn't sound good, and REALLY should be checked by a doctor.

Jafra Dark Imperfection Corrector is a bit more expensive, ($20) but it's a 3 color palette with a thicker consistency. There is a neutralizer to correct discolorations which is what you need. Another good option would be Cover FX Coverage Cream Foundation SPF 30 which doubles as a foundation and concealer.
