They wore the more glamorous darker shades. then later in the 60's and 70's women rebelled and became hippies (yay!) and went for the more natural look. Except for the lashes...they were big on the lashes!

People in the 50's were much mor conserved, and didn't want to add too much pazazz. Go with light pinks and light blues. Wear them much like you would wear todays make-up. very light eyeliner, and mascarra. Anything as lone as it looks preserved.

It was mostly bright red. The look was classy and glamorous and the red lipstick is what people wore. When they wore the bright red lipstick they often kept their eye makeup simple.
