i think this will be a prefect example and answer to your question. these colors will not only make your eyes matchy from your dress too much but wont be in contrast with your dress!

I think you should go with gold.

Try some brown colours. Maybe a little bit green or blue, but not to much.

I would suggest a smokey eye with sparkly shades of greys and silvers. These will complement your dress, but not match. Check YouTube for some silver shadow smokey eye how-tos. You could also locate a cosmetology school in your area, and have one of their students make you up for your prom-usually costs about five dollars. Tell them you don't want your shadow to match your dress.
