Can i wear a smokey eye if i have really small eyes?

I always try to do a smokey eye but I feel it just shrinks my eyes, even when I don't use dark colors. What am I doing wrong. Also, is there any way that I can wear black eyeshadow? Thanks!

Line your top lids only and blend the darkest color out from the crease a little. Try curling the lashes and applying a lengthening mascara to help "open" the eyes and create length. You can always extend the top liner out to create a cat-eye look. Gel eyeliners work great for lining the upper lash line. Great picture below that @kayceemaree did....looks stunning!

That's not necessarily a bad thing... small eyes can look mysterious and dramatic. When you apply eyeliner on your lower lashes, do it just below the lash line, not inside the rim, and don't let the line come all the way to the inner corner of your eye. You might also want to line your wetline with white or other light color. Extend eyeliner past the outer corners of your eyes. The line should move upwards a little as well, mimicking a very long eyelash. This will make your eyes look wider. Add white eyeshadow or eyeliner to the inner corner of your eyes. This brings more light into them and gives the effect of them being larger.

The mistake you're probably making- is circling the entire eye with liner. Though that is a traditional smokey eye, if your eyes are small, I would line the top lids only. You can wear black shadow at the edges of your eyelids. Hold a business card up to your face right under your eye, to create a perfect line.
