As long as your skin's undertones are olive, it will be fine! Green and red are opposite colors which mean they neutralize each other leaving them very suiting to be worn together. If your dark skin had more warm tone than cool, I would stay away from red hair as it will bring out unwanted red and warmer tones in the face.

I would do more of a maroon rich tone. But however you would want to be more into changing your overall look with the color of make up you wear too! It can be a fun look and you could totally rock it in many ways.
