When curling hair, i like to section the hair in vertical long sections and only curl half way up. To avoid any "fish end hooks" I like to start in the center of the section working your way down to the ends while continuing to feed more hair through. This will ensure that you have no creases or lines in your curls. It is ok to take sections on the bigger side to achieve a lose effect rather than a tight ringlet style. I like to direct a couple sections around the face backward away from the face for a more flattering look and alternate from one side to the other in the back. This technique will help so that the curls don't all conform together creating one big curl.
