My asian friend has a medium brown with a slightly orange-ish tint...it sounds weird, but it looks fantastic on her!

Go for a dark-ish, mahogany brown. If that's still too plain, then add some golden highlights to change it up! (:

I have a client who is Asian ans we do platinum blonde and she looks hot! However I wouldn't recommend this for every Asian girl. Try a lighter shade of brown to begin with or a nice cool tone of a burgundy red.

Because of all the natural warm tones that darker hair naturally has, I wouldn't go too light. You want to give her a change and new look not create a clash between her hair and skin. I would go with a neutral medium brown. Id say a level 5 -r even 6 would be ok as long as she will be willing to embrace warmer tones for the summer. What a thoughtful friend she has!
