If you are naturally brown, you will probably have to go with a beige or even ash blond depending on how many warm tones are left behind. These blond tonalities help to neutralize unwanted warmth. You would first have to prelighten your current tone (probably using a 30volume developer) then tone with desired shade. Use a beige blond for unwanted brightness and ash for less warmth. Be sure not to tone too long as you may create unwanted tones at from the opposite side of the color spectrum (i.e. violet, grey, greens).
