Is your current black hair natural or previously colored? If its already been colored, I would not recommend doing it yourself. Naturally hair might be a little easier to achieve more accurate results. The problem is the actual application. Everyone had different methods or patterns to achieve this look depending on the individuals needs in the chair at the time. I usually free hand my Ombre clients so it would be hard to explain as Id imagine it is buck better not doing it on yourself because of the angles needed and placement . For previously colored hair, you will need to lift your natural color with bleach and 30-40volume peroxide then tone with desired toner shade. If your hair is virgin, I would use a highlight color that had a toner built in to achieve this look in one single step. Make sure to trim and condition the hair back to health if lifting is required.

My hairdresser did "Balyage" and it was darker on top and gradually got lighter. You will most likely have to find a top colorist to do ombre and you may have to drive a little further. I live in Denver and it's easy to find colorists to do ombre. I love the look, keep looking!

Well honestly I would go online and try and find a solon that does ombre a little further away. You're better off getting it done profesionally because doing it yourself can cause lots of damage. Trust me I have seen some pretty bad hair jobs done at home.
