For a temporary straight style, a flat iron is always recommended. As for more permanent results, I would suggest either a keratin treatment, a japanese straightening or a relaxer depending on your natural texture, thickness and integrity.

You can do a chemical straightener which can be quite damaging, or you can invest in a nice flat iron. Make sure if you choose to flat iron that you use a protective barrier on the hair and do not hard press by going over and over the hair once it is already straight.

You can use a flat iron or www.instyler.com or have a Brazilian Blowout. The first two suggestions are temporary. The 3rd one would keep your hair straight for several months, but you'd have to go to a salon and spend a couple hundred bucks. It all depends on your budget.
