How to make curls stay?

asked
Whenever I curl my hair with a curling iron (1.5 barrel), the curls always go within the first hour. My hair is naturally wavy normally, but when the curls leave, it's an odd-flipped straightness that I really don't like. Any tips on how to make defined curls last longer?

Because hairspray can tend to leave a heavy cast on the hair causing the curls to lie heavily and probably drop even sooner, I would recommend letting the hair dry with a soft mousse in it first. Once dry, spray your entire hair with a dry shampoo and brush before curling. This will help to add a little substance and control to your style without becoming too heavy. Once your done curling entire head, separate and shake out the curls then spray with a weightless flexible hold hairspray.

Curling your hair always works better on day old hair instead of freshly washed hair. Try a curl-shaping spray or cream.....Fekkai Advanced Curl Shaper Cream is a great product. Finish with a strong hold hairspray.

spray it with a bot of hair spray or before you do curl your hair wash and dry it so the curls will stay in for about 2-3 days

Do you spray it with a hairspray to keep it in place? I personally find that my hair retains its style (through heat styling) way better when I secure it in place with some sort of hairspray product. I personally really like the Nexxus hairspray I'm using!
