Get rid of yellow hair?

Get rid of yellow hair?

asked
I've put up with this yellow hair for a month now and I can't take much more! I've been doing intense treatments, using purple shampoos etc on it and the yellow isn't budging.
I haven't got enough money for the hair dressers. I've tried directions white toner and only some of the top went a lighter blonde, which looks quite nice. But i'm going to be paying a trip to tesco in a bit to buy myself a blonde dye.
What shade should I go for to get rid of the yellow/orange tones in my hair? I've been told ash, but then some disagree. If theres any blonde dyes you know of that will be good, then please share. Any pictures of the dyes/shades/shade numbers then that will be so helpful.
Thank you xxxxxxx

Keep in mind that color does not remove color. If you are looking to go lighter you will first need to strip the current color out more. You would only have to do this on the yellow ends and avoid contact with the already light roots. My only concern would be the several processes your ends have already been through and if it is safe to do another. If you do decide to go with color, ash would be your best bet. You will also want to keep this off the light roots as they will become green if they come in contact with the ash dye. Watch your ends while they process with ash to prevent them from going too muddy. Keep in mind ash may neutralize some of the yellow but will still be darker than the roots. Although it can be pricey, it sounds as though you need a correction. You can end up creating more problems doing it yourself. I would allow a professional to get you where you want to be and then maintain it yourself once you are at your desired color. A beauty school may also be a helpful, less expensive option.

I would recommend locating a cosmetology school in your area on YELP, and you could discuss this with the instructors there. The school can color your hair for about $20 or so. I would give that a try.
